Update August 13, 2010

MVHR has had a very busy first half of 2010.  I apologize for not updating the website before now.  We have adopted out several animals and have taken on many more. Please check out our "Available Horses"  for the current horses that are available or will be in the near future.  I will continue to update the rest of the site in the near future:)

Back in May we were trying to help a horse owner place some extra horses as she wanted to downsize her herd a bunch.  We sent out a massive e-mail to try to place some of the animals.  We had one person respond that she wanted 2 and another who took one.  We picked up all three and brought them to Eagle where the one was taken by his new owner.  The other two were to remain here till the new owner could pick them up which was supposed to be a week or two.  Well apparently her circumstances changed and she backed out on both.  We were left with a 3 year old Stud Colt and a 3 year old filly. Check them out as they are ready and should turn out to be great horses!!

Also in May we received a call from Animal Control and the Sheriff over in Silt, Colorado.  They had 5 starving and neglected horses that needed to be moved ASAP.  We picked up these animals on May 29, 2010.  There were 4 QH geldings and one Mustang mare.  Two of the gelding were in deplorable condition and came to our home base in Eagle for intensive care.  The other three went to a temporary foster home to begin their recovery.  Two have already adopted out!!  Check them all out as they are so lucky and happy to be well fed and on the road to recovery
.

About Us
We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the compassionate care of equines.  Our incredible group of volunteers are dedicated to protecting and rehabilitating equines in need as well as education of horse owners and the community as to proper care and the problems of neglect, , abuse, and slaughter. We rescue abused, neglected, or abandoned equines; provide them with care and rehabilitation; and finally find them a compatible, loving home.

We are entirely funded by private donations and community fundraising. We are staffed by a fabulous group of volunteers donating their time, energy and funds to help these horses. We are also very blessed to have a network of foster homes who help to provide the nurturing and care that these poor creatures need.
